Question 1

What types of pests does Primal Pest Control treat in SLO County?

Accepted Answer

We treat ants (including Argentine ants, carpenter ants, and Pharaoh ants), cockroaches (Turkestan and German), spiders (including black widows), mosquitoes, silverfish, earwigs, wasps, beetles, and rodents (roof rats and Norway rats) across San Luis Obispo County.

Question 2

Is green pest control as effective as conventional pest control?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Primal approach uses inspection, prevention, exclusion, and targeted treatment. We can use products in the lowest toxicity category to eliminate an infestation, then maintain control with natural EPA 25(b) exempt products.

Question 3

What is Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

Accepted Answer

IPM is an ecosystem based pest management strategy that combines environmental modifications, exclusion techniques, monitoring, and targeted treatments. We choose the lowest toxicity category that can effectively solve the problem.

Question 4

What products do you use for regular pest control?

Accepted Answer

After an infestation is controlled, we can maintain the property with natural EPA 25(b) exempt products such as EcoVia or Naturecide. The exact product depends on the pest, property, and current activity.

Question 5

How do you treat a serious infestation?

Accepted Answer

We use an effective product in the lowest toxicity category needed to eliminate the infestation, following the product label and applying it only where needed. We can then maintain control with natural EPA 25(b) exempt products.

Question 6

What areas does Primal Pest Control serve?

Accepted Answer

We serve San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, Avila Beach, Paso Robles, Atascadero, Los Osos, Santa Maria, Nipomo, Arroyo Grande, and Morro Bay.

Question 7

How much does green pest control cost in SLO County?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the type and severity of the pest issue and the size of your property. We offer free inspections and quotes. Call us at (805) 439-9653 for a personalized estimate.

Question 8

Do you offer recurring pest control plans?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Regular service helps keep pest pressure low so we can maintain control with natural EPA 25(b) exempt products such as EcoVia or Naturecide. Monthly, bimonthly, and quarterly options are available.

Question 9

What is the difference between 'organic' and 'green' pest control?

Accepted Answer

In chemistry, organic simply means carbon based. We focus instead on a product's EPA category, label, application, and effectiveness. Our maintenance options include natural EPA 25(b) exempt products such as EcoVia or Naturecide.

Question 10

How do you handle rodent control?

Accepted Answer

We use strategic exclusion (sealing entry points), environmental modifications, and targeted interventions to remove rodents and prevent re-entry. Any bait we use is secured in tamper resistant bait boxes so kids, pets, and wildlife can't get into them.

Question 11

Are black widow spiders common in SLO County?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Black widow spiders are the primary venomous spider species on the Central Coast. They are commonly found in garages, woodpiles, meter boxes, and under outdoor furniture. Regular de-webbing and perimeter treatments reduce their populations.

Question 12

How quickly can I get service?

Accepted Answer

We provide prompt, reliable service. Call us at (805) 439-9653 or request an appointment to schedule your free inspection. We serve the entire SLO County area.

Question 13

What happens during a free inspection?

Accepted Answer

A licensed (PR 10033) Primal inspector will come to your home, diagnose the pest issue, check common problem areas for signs of damage, confirm the type and scale of infestation, and present you with a custom treatment plan.

Question 14

Do you treat mosquitoes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Mosquitoes are a health concern in SLO County. California has recorded over 300 deaths from West Nile Virus since 2003, including cases in San Luis Obispo County. We help eliminate standing water sources and apply targeted treatments.

Question 15

What if I still see pests after treatment?

Accepted Answer

You may see a brief uptick in pest activity after the first treatment as we drive pests out of their normal hiding spots. Over time, you will see fewer pests until your property is pest-free. If you continue to see issues, we will schedule a follow-up at no cost.

Question 16

Is Primal Pest Control licensed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Primal Pest Control is licensed, bonded, and insured. Our license number is PR 10033.

Question 17

Why are Argentine ants so hard to control?

Accepted Answer

Argentine ants form interconnected super-colonies, so killing the foragers you see barely makes a dent. Effective control requires targeting the colony itself, which is why professional IPM-based treatment is recommended.

Question 18

Can I do anything to prevent pests without chemicals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Seal entry points around pipes, vents, and doors. Manage moisture near your foundation. Keep vegetation trimmed away from your home. Store pet food in sealed containers. These environmental modifications are the foundation of IPM.
